How do I enable private sharing in iTunes?

It’s best to check how you set up iTunes Home Sharing in case you missed something!

1. Update iTunes and your devices

First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes with Home Sharing installed on every Mac or PC.

And don’t forget to update your Apple TVs, iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch to the latest iOS or tvOS.

2. Connect all devices to the same WiFi network

Home sharing works when all of your devices are on the same WiFi network. So quickly check your devices and make sure they connect to exactly the same WiFi network.

Troubleshooting Guide: Fix iPad WiFi Problems

For people with dual-band or tri-band WiFi routers, write down what bandwidth you want to use, e.g. B. 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz.

Search for guest networks

If you have also set up a guest network on your router, make sure that you are not accidentally connecting to the guest network, but to your home network.

No VPN support

Home sharing doesn’t work with VPNs. Therefore, check whether one or more of your devices are not currently connected to a VPN. In this case, switch off your VPN.

3. Use the same Apple ID on all devices

The same Apple ID must be signed in for every computer or device in your home sharing network.
