This message is often displayed if you are in a country or region other than your home country, e.g. B. if you are traveling on business, on vacation or working and living abroad.

Quick tips

Follow these tips to get your app store up and running again

  • If necessary, change your country or region for the iTunes and App Store
  • If you are a member of a family sharing group, check the country and region settings on the specified Family Organizer
  • Log out of the App Store and then log in again
  • Make sure your device has no restrictions
  • Switch the WiFi on your device off and on again (add a restart in between if this doesn’t work at first).
  • Make sure your billing address in your Apple ID is set to the address of your current country of residence
  • Log out of your Apple ID in the iTunes & App Store and then log in again
  • Update your country of residence for your Apple ID

When you sign out of the App Store app, you’ll usually be asked to sign in to the App Store again using your Apple ID in the current region or country you’re in.

How to log out of the App Store

  1. Open the App Store app and select the Today tab
  2. Tap the profile picture or icon in the upper right corner
  3. Choose Sign Out

  4. Enter your Apple ID and password at the prompt
  5. Tap Sign in
    Enter the Apple ID and password
  6. Wait while the App Store connects to Apple’s servers and validates your credentials
  7. If registration is successful, tap your name and Apple ID

  8. Check the country / region setting and confirm that it is correct

  9. If not, open a web browser (e.g. Safari), go to your Apple ID account page, and change your Apple ID information
    1. You will also need to enter a payment method for your new country or region
    2. Spend credits before changing regions / countries
    3. Cancel all subscriptions, including Apple Music
    4. If you are in a family sharing plan, leave this family sharing group. The family organizer manages the country and region settings
  10. When you are satisfied that the information is correct, tap Done

Switch WiFi

Several readers let us just toggle this around, wait 20 to 30 seconds before turning the WiFi back on to fix this problem. If that didn’t work, add a restart or force a restart between turning it off and on and see if that’s the trick.

  5. Go to the home screen or app store and try downloading your app again

Try changing your iTunes and App Store country

If you change the country of residence of your Apple ID (App Store or iTunes Store), you must spend your current credit before changing to a new country setting. Store credit NOT transferred.

Update the country or region on your iDevice

  1. Go to Settings> iTunes & App Store
  2. Tap your Apple ID
  3. Choose Show Apple ID

  4. Tap on Country / region

  6. Choose your new area
    1. Make sure you choose a location that matches the billing address of your payment method
      new region or country for Apple ID
  7. Agree to the terms and conditions
  8. Enter a payment method with your current address (new location) as the billing address
  9. tap Nextand you’re good to go!

Can’t change the country?

If you can’t change your country, you’re probably part of a family sharing plan.

The region or country on the Apple ID cannot be changed with the family sharing group
Ask the family organizer to change the country or region, or to leave the family plan.

Update the settings in iTunes or through the Apple ID website

  1. Open iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC, log in to the Apple ID account information page, and choose Account> View my account at the top of the iTunes window

    2. On the Account Information page, look to the right of the country / region and choose Change country or region

    4. click change
    5. On the Welcome to the iTunes Store page, tap Continue
    6. Agree to the terms and conditions and Apple’s privacy policy
    7. Enter your new payment information and billing address
    8. You must enter a valid payment method for your new country or region. You can later change the payment method to “None” once your account confirms this

If you change your billing address from your Apple ID account page or through the iTunes Store or App Store, your billing address will be updated for all Apple services that use the same Apple ID

Or go to your Apple ID account on the website

  1. tap Account> Edit
  2. Select your new country or region in the Country / Region menu
  3. Enter your new payment information
  4. You must enter a valid payment method for your new country or region. You can change your payment method to “None” later once your account confirms this
  5. click save up

If your country or region is grayed out and you can’t make any changes, it is likely that there is still funds left in your account. Spend the remaining credit and it should work.

If you are part of a family sharing group, you must leave the group before changing your country and region.

Before you change your country or region

  1. The credit of your business is assigned to the business of the respective country or region. Spend the remaining credit before changing your country
  2. Download all of your previous purchases to your device
  3. Cancel all subscriptions, including Apple Music! These must be subscribed to again in the store of the new country
  4. Back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iTunes (your iCloud account is tied to your country, so it’s safer to trust iTunes for this backup).
  5. If you are a member of a family sharing group, you may not be able to change your country or region until you leave that family sharing group
  6. If you move iTunes and Apple Store countries or areas, you should download all of your previous purchases before changing your country or region. Depending on the availability of the new shop and local laws, you may be able to download it again after the change, but this is not guaranteed.

Only one iTunes / App Store allowed

You can’t currently buy media (music, apps, etc.) from an iTunes or app store that is different from the store where you resided in your Apple ID account.

Your billing address (and credit card) determine which Apple store in the country you can shop at.

If you visit another country, Apple does not allow you to buy apps from iTunes or app stores other than your home country store, even if you stay there longer.
