Review: OnePlus 7T brings flagship-worthy specifications down to a slightly more edible price level. Here's our test of it.
Not much has happened since the last OnePlus launch, in fact for less than half a year. How much can happen in half a year? More than one would think. OnePlus 7T is 400 dollars more expensive than its predecessor, in turn there are some news on board: a triple camera with new design, a slim 90Hz screen, even faster charging, a slightly faster processor and several other small improvements.
I have been using OnePlus 7T as my landline for the past week and it has been a really good experience. In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is the best OnePlus mobile ever, considering the price. Here is our review of OnePlus 7T.
OnePlus 7T: Pros and Cons
- Large, beautiful and fluid 90Hz display
- Top performance
- OxygenOS provides the best Android experience
- Good all-round camera
- Even faster charging
- Very mobile for the money
- No wire charging
- No IP certification
OnePlus 7T has a larger screen and a smaller notch.
Designed on OnePlus 7T
Admittedly, the OnePlus 7T has a larger screen than its predecessor, but is actually not much larger. More precisely, it is 3.2 millimeters brighter and slightly narrower and thinner than the OnePlus 7. By contrast, the screen has grown from 6.41 to 6.55 inches. Among other things, the larger screen is opened by the fact that Gre OnePlus' water drop notch 31 percent smaller and slightly smaller around the screen.
Hey, is this the new OnePlus 7T?
OnePlus 7T is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on both back and front. Well, it is tempered glass, but it is also just glass. OnePlus makes a long line of beautiful covers for it, which can style protect the fragile exterior. In terms of design, the OnePlus 7T is the predecessor – at least until you turn it around. In addition to great new colors, the OnePlus 7T has bold new camera design to provide associations with professional camera lenses. This time, the user has three lenses available, but more on the quality of these later. Whether you like the new design is a matter of taste, but it is different and there is far to be noticed. Rarely have I experienced so many who have approached me and erupted: "Hey, is that the new OnePlus 7T?". It may even say the brand's popularity.
Fortunately, there is still room for good stereo speakers and the well-known and often underestimated Alert Slider, where you can quickly switch between sound, vibration and sound. As before, OnePlus has not invested in an IP certification, but confirms that it is well protected from a rain shower. There is also no headphone jack at this time and no wireless charging.

90Hz screen for cheaper money
OnePlus 7T has a large 6.55 inch 1080×2400 pixel AMOLED display, produced by Samsung, with the same pixel density as its predecessor. The big news is the improvement in the refresh rate, which is now at 90Hz in OnePlus 7T. In my test of the OnePlus 7 Pro, I expressed great pleasure in this, and I still haven't gotten my hands on it. Now you can get it in a mobile phone for 4,699 kroner. Scrolling, animation and daily use of the mobile S bottle is incredibly nice.
OnePlus 7T is one of the first smartphones with the heart-pumping update of the Snapdragon 855, which is named 855 Plus. These are exactly the same cores, but they have been overclocked and therefore perform slightly better. OnePlus 7T is no faster than OnePlus 7 in daily life, but you should not complain about any excess.
There is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, without the possibility of expanding with MicroSD memory cards. Just like last, the storage space is lightning fast with the new UFS 3.0 technology. OnePlus 7T laughs at everything you throw at it: everything gets opened very quickly, runs completely fluid, and kept in RAM memory ready for use. One can't put a finger on the performance of OnePlus 7T, which runs faster than any other Android flagship. One of the cleanest ones, no doubt, for OnePlus' excellent Android software.
The OnePlus 7T stereo speakers help provide an experience when watching video, Youtube or playing games. There is Dolby Atmos and a really good stereo separation.
The audio during conversations is perceived as really good and mobile data has worked completely flawlessly.
OxygenOS with Android 10 is great
Android is good and manufacturers' interfaces are getting better all the time. Unfortunately, getting started with an Android mobile versus an iPhone is still a bit more complicated and messy. In addition, you are often left with double up apps because both manufacturers and Google are involved. Bloatware is still plenty in the most expensive Androids. When you change your Android mobile phone several times over, you notice these differences as manufacturers try to make their own Android ecosystems and end up making it all the more difficult for users. OxygenOS is OnePlus' Android software and is one of the best of their phones.
A good user interface is a user interface that is there, without getting in the way. It should be simple, fast, stable, beautiful to look at and still contain a lot of possibilities. All these things cause OxygenOS to go to ug. It's easy to get started, there are no bloatware, dual apps or unmanageable settings. Obviously, there is a lot of thought about the user experience and I love it. I still think there is room for improvement, especially for one-handed operation. The screens get bigger for each generation and therefore further to the top of the screen.
OnePlus 7T comes with OxygenOS 10 and Android 10, where the manufacturer has made lots of small improvements. There are new animations, such as turning the phone horizontally or vertically, improved fingerprint scanner, all the new stuff in Android 10 and more. OnePlus is constantly working to make OxygenOS better, and especially input from their community means a lot to them, which is why contributors to the software are mentioned in the phone's software.
OnePlus guarantees a minimum of 2 years with software updates and 3 years with security updates.
OnePlus paid tribute to their community and the people who contributed to a better software experience.
The OxygenOS software is nice to see p.
Speed on Warp Charge 30T
The battery has also grown slightly, from 3700 to 3800 mAh. The slightly larger screen and the 90Hz swallow some more, which is why the OnePlus 7T is no new battery grandmaster. It lasts a whole day for me, and usually a little more, for moderate use with about 5 hours of lightweight monitor. It's okay, but not great. Personally, I like to sacrifice some battery life for the 90Hz.
In turn, it is offset by the new Warp Charge 30T charge, which now charges 27.3 percent faster. That means from 0-70 percent in 30 minutes. 20 minutes in the socket provides about 50 percent. It is quite impressive and very addictive that you can throw it in the charger for a quarter and almost have the battery half full.
The best battery life I've had on the OnePlus 7T. Usually, for me, it holds back a single day with f percent.
A good all-round camera
If we look solely at the specifications, the OnePlus 7T's primary camera is not much different from the OnePlus 7. But in fact the difference is quite large and the camera is more similar to that of the more expensive 7 Pro model. The 7T has brought an additional camera sensor and is now up to three of its kind: a primary wide angle, ultra wide angle and telephoto.
Here are some specs on the OnePlus 7T camera:
primarily: 48 megapixels, f / 1.6 with optical stabilization
Telephoto: 12 megapixels, f / 2.2 with 2x optical zoom
Ultra Wide Angle: 16 megapixels, f / 2.2 ultra wide angle
Images in daylight are fine and with relatively true-to-life colors and good dynamic range. The vast majority will be fully satisfied with the images from the OnePlus 7T, however, lacking some sharpness and detail compared to better mobile cameras. For example, last year's iPhone XR takes better pictures in daylight, but also costs a little more. Portraits do the OnePlus 7T really well. The separation of the foreground and background is one of the better we have experienced. Strangely enough, the dye is turned up quite violently when using the portrt function, which results in a little too exaggerated colors.
OnePlus has a different approach to night photography than most other manufacturers. Instead of making night time, OnePlus would like to capture "realistic night-time images" in which work is done to remove mood and belief with the mood. The result is quite good and I like their approach to night photography.
The ultra-wide-angle lens is a nice addition to the OnePlus 7T, which makes it quite dark in both daylight and when the darkness falls on (with night feature enabled). The quality is not at par with the primary camera, but rather fine. Ultra wide angle is fun to use and allows you to take some pretty amazing pictures. The ultra-wide-angle lens is also used for a new macro photography that works really well. Here you can get as close as 2.5 centimeters.
The 2x optical zoom does well too. The images appear fine and with no visible loss of quality. Again, it's not quite the same quality as the primary camera, but arguably usable.
All in all, the OnePlus 7T camera is good, fun and flexible. That being said, I still think this is OnePlus' weakest area. Improvement is needed if OnePlus is to compete with Apple, Huawei and Samsung. For £ 4,699, I find it rather difficult to complain about the quality of the OnePlus 7T's camera.

Conclusion: OnePlus 7Ter and no-brainer
We think OnePlus 7T for 4,699 kroner is a no-brainer. Worst shelf specifications, a large floating 90Hz screen, stereo speakers, extremely fast charging, the world's best software and a good triple camera.
It could be nice with wireless charging and a larger battery. But wireless charging is not a must and the battery is offset by the wildly fast charge. The new triple camera performs well and adds fun and useful features such as ultra wide-angle and macro photography.
I have a "fast and smooth" experience every time I read the OnePlus 7T, and I find that I find it difficult to put it away from me.
OnePlus 7T ends with a top rating, 6 out of 6 stars, and a clear recommendation from here.
OnePlus 7T comes in the colors Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue. The suggested retail price is 4,699, – and it can be purchased from 10 October.
