How to Make a Crepe Paper Punch

2 min

Franzidos enrich the appearance of crepe paper projects, such as piñatas or costumes. There are different forms of frowning that can be made, such as those that look like the hem of a dress or like those of a stud. Each type of crease is easy to create with crepe paper as it is an easy-to-handle material. Using multiple colors gives an extra dimension.

Instructions

  1. Cut the crepe paper into strips of approximately 5 cm depending on the size of the waves. You can also use crepe paper for chains as it comes in rolls of 5 cm strips.

  2. Fold the crepe paper. Apply double-sided tape on sections of your design that need the shirring, whether decor, fancy or piñata. For example, if you want to create a ruffled collar on a piñata, apply the ribbon to the neck area to glue the paper.

Go pasting the crepe paper strips and gently place small sections on the ribbon. You can paste sections of 1.5 cm. Squeeze the paper sections back to overlap the layers. For example, if you are making 1.5 cm sections, fold or “squeeze” back half the section size to overlap the already folded paper. Repeat this step to create a wrinkled crepe paper.

For more pronounced waves, you should tighten with even less space. Remember that the top sections should be tightened on the tape, while the underside will have a wavy appearance.

  3. For a different type of ruffle, place narrower pieces of paper over one another. For example, cut up pieces of 5 by 10 cm and place them on top of each other.

  4. Fold the paper into strips of approximately 1.5 cm. Fold the narrow side to you so that it is folding the shorter edge or the side of the width. Alternate the folds to have an accordion shape. For example, the first fold will be inward and the second fold outward.

  5. Tie a line in the middle of the folded paper. Gently twist the layers of paper toward the center. Cut any pieces that are on the sides. Keep twisting the paper. This kind of ruffle looks like a flower. You can create multiple flower frills and paste them into your design as needed.
